At Randolph-Macon College, the Theta Mu chapter of the Tri Sigma sorority is hosting the fabulous runway of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, a domestic violence awareness event, on November 23rd from 12:00-3:30 PM. They are partnering with Hanover Safe Place for their philanthropy event which includes relay races while wearing heels to support women across the globe.

The Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority’s values of Wisdom, Power, Faith, Hope, and Love has encouraged these women to take a stand for the lack of awareness. Sisters that attended and organized this event last May noticed the lack of participation and spectators. Their hopes and goals have grown stronger to bring the community together in a positive light for a meaningful cause.
President of the Theta Mu (RMC) chapter, Tara Richio, said this about Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: “For our sorority, Walk a Mile represents more than a philanthropy event, it embodies our dedication to raising awareness about sexual assault and supporting survivors within our community. By participating, we strive to foster empathy, encourage dialogue, and stand in solidarity with those affected. Each step we take symbolizes our collective commitment to creating a safer, more compassionate campus and community for everyone.”
Everyone is encouraged to participate with a $5 sign-up fee located in the QR code or at the event. Shoes will be provided but you are more than welcome to bring your own pair. Food and prizes will be present, and all earnings will be donated to the Hanover Safe Place.
Come out and support your local pearled sisters!
