Yellow Jackets Win O.D.A.C. Basketball Championship

After a three-day long tournament in Salem, Virginia, the Randolph-Macon men’s basketball team beat the Guilford Quakers 61-48 on Sunday, crowning them the 2023 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions. This is the team’s 4th straight O.D.A.C. title, making it their 10th overall. The win also extends the Yellow Jackets’ streak to 25, allowing them to move on to the first round of the upcoming N.C.A.A. Division III Tournament.

Daniel Mbangue (’24) stood out as the star player, scoring 18 points during the game and finishing with both a 75% field goal percentage and 75% free throw percentage. Will Coble (’24) scored 9 points with 3 three-pointers, Josh Talbert (’23) scored 10 points and led assists with 5, and Miles Mallory (’23) scored 7 points and led rebounds with 8.

The Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets will face off against the Wilson Phoenix in the first round of the N.C.A.A. Tournament on Friday, March 3, 2023, in Crenshaw Gymnasium.
